Award

In order to commemorate the achievements of the late Dr. Hideo Kishimoto (former University Librarian of the University of Tokyo) in Japan's university library reform, the Association established the "Dr. Hideo Kishimoto Memorial Fund" in 1965 with donations provided from the bereaved family of Dr. Kishimoto and other parties associated with university libraries across the nation. After that, "the Japan Association of National University Libraries Memorial Fund" was established with merging the Dr. Hideo Kishimoto Memorial Foundation and the other donations in 2006.

With the Foundation, the Association has established the JANUL Award, honoring parties (individuals and groups) belonging to Association member libraries with outstanding achievements in library activities and library / informatics research. Winners receive citations and commemorative medal at the Association's General Assembly.
