1st JANUL Management Seminar held

2005 JANUL Management Seminar was held at Nagoya University Library on July 1. This seminar was held for executive staffs of libraries to response to the current state of university libraries which are strongly demanded organizational operation that stands in a new point of view with rapid change in the scholarly information distribution environment.

The program were as follows: the keynote speech "University management strategy and expectation to university libraries" by Mr. Homma, Vice-President of Kyoto University; "Construction of functions for creation, accumulation and dissemination of scholarly information in university libraries and its management" by Mr. Sasakawa, Associate University Librarian, University of Tokyo Library; "Top management of university library : seeking to make library the face of the university" by Prof. Uematsu, University Librarian, Tsukuba University Library; "Discussion situation concerning university libraries in the Working Group for Subdivision on Science, Council for Science and Technology" by Mr. Ueda, Technical Expert for Information and Research Promotion, MEXT; "Staff Training in national university libraries in the future" by Mr. Ohno, Associate University Librarian, Kyoto University Library.

84 university librarian, associate university librarian, directors and so on from 59 universities and organizations were present. They listened to the lectures intently and discussed actively.
